    Brewis Electric Benders
Benders - 1 - Previous ranking = 1st. No surprise here. I'm placing the Benders in the top spot at this point in the season. While they might not be lighting the lamp as much as some teams below them, they do have the best GAA, and they say defense wins championships. For some bizarre reason the Capitals are their 1 nemesis though, giving the Bender their 2 only losses. Maybe some other teams should slip 932 $20 and find out what their secret is. Otherwise look for the Benders to keep on cruising – DR -

    DHW Beavers
Beavers - 2 - Previous ranking = 8th. Probably the biggest surprise for me. Most people might not realize the offensive power that these guys have. It's not just 1 or 2 guys carrying the team. It's a long list of guys that are a point per game or better. Can they take top spot? Maybe. The fact that they're one of least penalized will help their cause. Always being on the pk is tiring. If they get consistent turnouts and get those lines gelling, look out Benders - DR -

    Sr. Tritons
Tritons - 3 - Previous ranking = 3rd. The Tritons are neck and neck with the Beavers in my mind, although you can see I gave the nod elsewhere. The good part about these guys is that they have a small army (pun intended) on the bench for each game and they gel really well together. The bad part is that they can play on that edge a bit to much sometimes, and they're taking too many penalties. That's hard on an old guy ... I should know. If they can keep their cool a bit more, it might do wonders for their standings. -DR -

    Jets 1
Jets - 4 – Previous ranking = 6th. I hummed and hawed about who gets the 4th slot between the Orangeman and the Jets. Seeing as the Jets squeeked out their only head-head they get it. The Jets have a few players that are deceptively fast. They will burn you if your’re not paying attention. They always seem to be playing with a short bench too. They’re not as old as some other teams, so that might not catch up to them as much, but I have to think it will eventually. All their game are very tight, and they generally come away with the ‘W’ …. This skill will come in very handy in the playoffs. – DR -

    Victoria Orangemen
Orangemen - 5 - previous ranking - 10th. These guys are another surprise. I've played with a few of them over the years, and I didn't think they'd be able to cut it in the top tier. I was wrong. They will need some better secondary scoring if they want to go deep in the playoffs though. They’re a good guys so I hope they keep doing well. - DR -

    Black Bears
BlackBears - 6th - previous ranking - 5th . Another team that will need to find some secondary scoring if the plan to differentiate from the rest of the teams bunched up in the middle. Your top player shouldn't have as many goals as the next 4 combined. Without the Mustangs around who accounted for 1/3 of the teams wins, we'll have to see how they fair. I like the keeper though. I have faith. – DR -

    Island Whalers
Whalers – 7th – Previous ranking – 7th. When I watch these guys I can tell they’re getting better each game. Their problem is that they’re just not getting the scoring that they’ll need to compete in this tier. So why am I ranking them this high even? You need to watch them, and the chemistry coming together on the ice. If they don’t start putting a few more pucks in the net though, they’ll be at the bottom come playoff time. - DR -

    932 Capitals
Capitals – 8th – Previous ranking – 2nd. I’m surprised and disappointed how much worse the Capitals season has gone so far. I know they lost/dropped a couple players during the transition from tier1 to tier2. I didn’t think they would be that affected though. I guess I was wrong. Without the Mustangs to beat up on how will they fair going forward? The crazy part though is they seem to have the Benders number. If they can find the same mojo against a few other top teams, they’ll be ok in the playoffs. - DR -

    Victoria Venom
Venom – 9th – Previous ranking – 4th. Another surprise to me. I thought that Venom would fair better, because of their experience last year as a transition team. They also are just not scoring the quantity of goals that’s needed. I watch them play and I see too many individual efforts and not enough team play. That will need to change in mind. – DR -
