Do I need to know how to play hockey?
NO! We encourage everyone to come and play.
Do I need to know how to skate?
NO! But some basic skating skills would help greatly. We are looking to
offer additional hockey clinics for our league players.
I'm interested in playing but I don't have all the gear. Can I still
play?
NO! We intend on making everyone safe on the ice which means mandatory full gear, recommended full
face shield/mask - minimum half-mask. We're also providing all league members with a hockey discount at
our chosen sports store sponsor so costs are less of a barrier.
When do we play? How late are games?
None of our games end later than 12:00am. Games start as early as 5:30pm.
Games are played everyday of the week. We do our best to do as balanced as schedule as possible for each team.
How many games do we get?
The pre-season, regular season, and play-offs will be a minimum of 25
games. There are potentially more play-off games if you make the finals.
Are you playing full hockey rules?
Yes, games are officiated by certified referees and our league is non-contact. However your team decides
to strategize is up to them. General hockey rules knowledge is a good pre-requisite but not necessary to play.
How do I know if I'm too good?
This league is designed for people with ZERO to three years of organized hockey. (not including drop in or
pick up etc.) We have 6 different tiers of experience and ability. Obviously with these standards, this will give a wide range of ability on the ice however, it is
our conviction that this league provide opportunities for those that haven't played very much to have every
opportunity to enjoy the sport in a safe, controlled but competitive atmosphere.
With that said, it is always more fun to play with people that have some experience on your team as it makes
for much better hockey but in this case, perhaps it may provide a chance for people to play in a new position
or to help keep the game fun for others on their team. Our best advice is to register if you are interested in
playing and so long as you aren't taking the fun away from others wanting to learn, you should be fine. And in
the event that we do find you too good for the league, we'll give the option of moving teams or give you a full
refund minus the ice time you've had.
I heard there are other leagues. Why play this league?
The #1 reason to play in 101 is skill levels. We cater to almost every player and there is a tier for your ability even if you've never played ice hockey before. Our rules, and are refs
reinforce a safe, social environment to enjoy hockey. Other reasons: co-ed adult hockey, season and cumulative stats if you continue with our league, new and unique prizes each year,
the largest trophy is awarded to the lowest skilled tiers. You can register with friends and organize your own team name and jerseys. We have a league representative for each tier and ensure every team
is seen and supervised throughout the season. All-star games for the best and the "worst" in our league.
We are continually improving each year based on the voices of the players in our league and we value a quality experience.
I have more questions, who do I talk to?
