by Eric Yue

As per Dr. Bonnie Henry's directions regarding ice hockey and all adult team sports. We have have no choice, but to end the season with the hope of bending the curve during this pandemic.

“These new guidelines will be available next week and will require some changes to COVID-19 safety plans. Approval is not needed for the updated plans, but monitoring and enforcement will be targeted to these locations and activities.”

All adult team sports — both indoor and outdoor — are now prohibited. According to the B.C. government website, this includes basketball, cheerleading, combat sports, floor hockey, floor ringette, road hockey, ice hockey, ringette, netball, skating, soccer, curling, volleyball, indoor bowling, lawn bowling, lacrosse, hockey, ultimate, rugby, football, baseball and softball.

This should not come as a surprise to most players and I understand that we all wanted to play and continue to play the sport that we love. Ice hockey will come back, but we just need to take a pause for the time being and regroup till next season.

Stay safe everyone and looking forward to seeing you guys next season. I know a lot of you have been asking what does it  look like for January? Honestly answer is that we don't know. ASHL and CANLAN doesn't know either, we will be taking this week by week and see the updates with potentially new guidelines in order to reopen again in January.
